Groomed Brows

So I let my brows grow in for quite a long while, just to see how thick they could get. The answer? They’re just not naturally thick. My stylist from California refused to ever touch my brows because she said I had a good natural shape. My stylists here, they just clean up on the browbone, at the inside edges of the brow, and any strays above the brow.

This is my brow shape. This is why I love brow powders and gel, since they give me the fuller appearance that I can’t achieve naturally.

How do your brows grow naturally? Thick? Thin?

Naturally mine are sparse, pale, but with a thick shape and tons of strays that grow right up to my socket crease. I was a teenager in the late ’90s, though, so I would pluck them THIN and there are some hairs that refused to grow back. I taught myself how to thread them and keep them a generally neat shape, and fill them in following an old Petrilude tutorial :). I used to hate how pale my brows were, but now I appreciate it because I can fill them in whatever color I want to!

I think your brows look perfect. Mine, on the other hand drive me nuts. They tend to get unruly rather easily!

        CarleenPruessCoulter Aww thank you Carleen!

Yours look great! I think I lucked out with my brows – they’re full and dark and have a decent natural shape, but I get them waxed and shaped every four weeks when I get the rest of my face waxed. I’ve never really thought about filling them in because I honestly don’t need to. Also I’m lazy and the fewer steps makeup takes me the better *g*

blueraccoon I always like them shaped/filled in now because I feel like they make me look more polished. So if I only have time for a 5 minute face – foundation, brows, blush, mascara, lips.

Your brows look great!  I got pretty lucky with mine, they’re on the thicker side.  My mom wouldn’t let me do them until I was 16 so i wouldn’t overpluck them, lol.  I just started filling them in, only if I have time.

ahhhdri thanks! They’re sparser than I’d like. I do love how a filled in brow does frame the face :)

I am in agreement with blueraccoon. I think yours look great and I’m pretty OK with my own brows. I get them done every three-ish weeks during my usual waxing appointment and really don’t mess with them other than to pluck strays that bug me between appointments. Hmm…that was a weird little pick-me-up…”Hey, my brows don’t cause me too much strife!” ;)

misfitgirlie Yay! It’s great to love your brows :)

Your brows are awesome. They have a perfect arch. Have you tried MUFE Aqua Brow? I just started using it and I love it. My problem is that my brows aren’t even. One starts higher than the other so I have to shape them carefully. The only thing that has helped is Botox ;)

IvoryandOlive I have not! I haven’t tried any MUFE products lately. I’ve been loving Anastasia’s brow products.

I love your brows! My brows are so ridiculously light and sparse.  So annoying!  I do have to shape them though because their natural shape is not pretty and not very even between the two sides.  I let someone do them professionally once and she did them pretty thin but it works for my small eyes!  I’m too cheap to pay someone to wax them all the time so I’ve been maintaining that original wax on my own since then.  Mine basically NEED to be filled out with powder or something every day. Most brow pens are actually too thick for me to use also and look like I’ve drawn on brows with a crayon, so powder is my favorite.  I do have the super fine tip Anastasia Brow Pen that works; it’s almost like a super fine tip marker in texture that actually works.  (Hilariously enough, the Anastasia Brow Wiz for “filling in sparse brows” is way too huge for me and gives the crayon outside of lines look.)

kawaiiferreto Oh I know! I can’t use those stencils! My brows are too small.

        • kawaiiferreto

Phyrra kawaiiferreto Oh my.  Yeah. I haven’t even tried the stencils!  I can only imagine how that would go!  I mean most brow pens themselves are almost as thick as my eyebrows/ way thicker than I could ever use.  (If I use a pen I like to try and mimic hair growth w/ short strokes to try and make it look like my brows are less sparse and there is no way I can do that with most.)

Your brows look very nice like this! Very full brows are not for everyone, these just suit your face well. On the plus side, thinner brows are better for filling in with colors, and colored brows can make awesome accents :)My brows are quite tick, and a bit sparser at the base and the tail. I used to pluck them thinner, but it made my browbone appear too big and blobby. I prefer filling them in with a sharp pencil, because powder makes them appear too strong.

SilkeSquirrel What I’ve been doing lately is using the Anastasia Tinted Brow gel to make them appear fuller. One thing I can say about my brows, the color is kind of drab on their own, so I can take the color any way I want – red, purple, black, brown, etc.

Mine are annoying, because they’re very light in colour compared to my hair, and they are sparse at the ends near the outside of my eyes, yet they grow LONG and they grow wildly underneath where I want them to be.  I wax them myself because I don’t trust a place to shape them well enough.  Is there a particular gel or powder you recommend?

Gabrielle_ I love Anastasia Tinted Brow Gel in Espresso! It’s great for a natural look.
