It’s time for another Makeup Wars. This time, we’re talkin’ about BB Creams. I have no doubt that you’ll already be able to guess my favorite BB cream!
For those of you new to BB creams, they are supposed to have the following properties:
- Moisturizer
- SPF
- Foundation
- Concealer
- Anti-Wrinkle
- Brightening or whitening
- Nourishing
- *some also claim to act as a primer
As you can probably guess, they’re supposed to be full coverage. They were originally created to be worn on skin recovering from surgery by a doctor in Germany.
They’re a time-saving multi-functional product. When I had to get up at 5am for work, I relied heavily on my BB Creams It made my skin look flawless. To me, if I only have time to focus on one feature, I want to focus on my skin, so the BB Creams was essential.
My favorite BB Cream is the Holika Holika Essential Petit BB Cream SPF 30 PA++. I’ve reviewed it here and ranted about bb creams here. I don’t like the glorified tinted moisturizers that most American companies have made.

Me wearing the Holika Holika BB Cream recently.
One reason I haven’t worn my Holika Holika much recently is that I can’t find e definitive answer on whether or not it’s cruelty-free (so that leads me to believe that it is not CF). While I do love the product and it’s certainly a steal at $10 + free shipping, I don’t feel comfortable purchasing it again (though I have in the past).
For a good, cruelty-free bb cream, I recommend the Jane Iredale (though I still need to do a full review on it.)
