I was surprised that Sephora wasn’t having a Friends and Family Sale this Fall (for the general public). However, don’t despair! Sephora will still do something for those of us who are VIB and Beauty Insider Members. I’ve got some recommendations for you for when that Sale happens!
Supergoop Antioxidant-infused Sunscreen Day Cream Broad Spectrum SPF 50 – $37
I love Supergoop’s Day Cream with SPF because it’s oil-free and makes my combination skin ‘normal’ instead of an oil slick. It also doesn’t irritate my eyes or anything else.
Anastasia Tinted Brow Gel – $21
Whether or not I fill in my brows, I like to reach for Anastasia’s tinted brow gel to hold my unruly hairs in place. It also gives the appearance of thicker brows, which my naturally thin brows appreciate.
Urban Decay Naked Skin Weightless Ultra Definition Liquid Makeup Foundation – $38
UD’s Naked Skin Liquid Foundation gives me a great my skin but better face. I get so many compliments on my skin when I’m wearing this foundation.
Too Faced Shadow Insurance Eye Primer – $18
My holy grail eyeshadow primer. LOVE! This is the perfect time to stock up!
Too Faced Too Faced Candlelight Glow Highlighting Powder Duo – $29
My favorite highlighter right now. It gives me the perfect glow.
Too Faced Primed & Poreless Skin Smoothing Face Primer – $30
This is a fantasic face primer and a little goes a long way.
Urban Decay De Slick XL Oil-Control Makeup Setting Spray – $34
I have found this invaluable in the heat and humidity of Summer and Florida.
Urban Decay Smoked Palette – $49
With a ton of versatility, and an ultra portable size, this is my go-to palette for travel. I also have been enjoying it for easy smoky looks. The book that comes with it has been priceless for me with teaching me techniques. Love it so much!
Urban Decay the Fun Palette – $36
This palette has a gorgeous teal and purples that I love. It also has work friendly shades like Maui Wowie, Sellout and Stray Dog. Sellout is a fabulous neutral. I also love the Midnight Cowboy gloss, because you can wear it on top of anything.
Urban Decay the Vice Palette – $59
This is a really fun set and if you’ve wanted a book of shadows or one of the larger UD sets, this is an excellent deal for the price.
Urban Decay Good Karma Optical Blurring Brush – $24
I’ve raved about this brush and can’t say enough nice things about it. I’m picking up a backup of this brush because it’s so good at what it does. The best foundation brush I own. Love it!
Too Faced Sweet Indulgence Set – $52
I’ve been eyeing this set, as it looks like it’s a really good value for the price. The TFSI is full size, and the brushes are nice. Also? Those greens!
Illamasqua Intense Gloss – $22
I’ve got Intense and Facade and I love the color and texture of these glosses. They’re pricey, which is why I think they’re perfect to pick up when they’re on sale, but they’re nice glosses. I really want Boost.
Clarisonic Mia2™ Sonic Skin Cleansing Holiday Pore–fection Collection – $149
I think I say this every year during a big Sale, this is the PERFECT time to pick up a Clarisonic Mia if you don’t already own one.
LaVanila The Healthy Sun Screen SPF 40 Face Cream – $28
If you have skin on the drier side, try this sunscreen. I’ve loved it for over a year.
Illamasqua Nail Varnish – $14
I’ve got several shades and love them. Poke, Baptiste, Stance, Radium, Bacterium, Phallic… all pretty, all have great wear.
tarte Fantastic Foursome 4-Piece Amazonian Clay 12-Hour Blush Enthusiast Set – $35
I have been lusting over this blush set for weeks. I have a couple of the tarte blushes and I really like them, so I think this is a great way to expand your collection. I’ve been debating picking up Buff.
tarte 5-Piece LipSurgence™ Collector’s Set – $34
I love the tarte lipsurgence and I’ve reviewed them several times and several places. I think this is a great way to add a variety of them to your collection. I own Sweet, Exposed, Envy, Fiery, Lively and Lucky. I relaly prefer the matte formula.
tarte EmphasEYES™ Waterproof Clay Shadow / Liner – $22
I love the tarte gel liners! They stick around without creasing or transferring. I would argue that they’re the best gel liners that I’ve tried, so picking them up at 20% off is nice. I actually own the bronze shade. I haven’t picked up the black because I’ve still got 2 MAC Blacktracks and a few other black gel liners to work through first.
tarte Clean Slate™ Deluxe Primer Trio – $9
I LOVE this trio! The primers in it are great and I really need to write individual reviews for each one.
butter LONDON 3 Free Nail Lacquer – $14
This is another great brand of polish and I own a ton of it. My favorite shades are All Hail the Queen, Disco Biscuit, Knackered, Bluey, Fairy Cake and the Full Monty.
NARS Velvet Matte Lip Pencil – $24
I love nice lip pencils. I especially love matte ones because they stick around a long time. I’ve got Never Say Never, Train Bleu and Damned. I do like the gloss ones too, but especially New Lover.
NARS Blush – $28
While NARS blush is pretty pricy, I absolutely love the blushes from the Danmari palette that I own. I wish they had more blush palettes, to be honest. I’ve got Orgasm, Super Orgasm, Desire, Nico and Sin, to name a few. I’m still lusting after Satellite of Love and Silvana.
NARS Illuminator – $30
I purchased Copacabana and it’s a great highlighter. You can mix it in with a foundation, too. The size means it will last a very long time.
NARS Eyeshadow Duos – $34
I have a few of these duos and like the shades I own. I don’t really often hear them talked about. The best of the ones I own are Eurydice, Tzarine and Sugarland. I’ve got my eye on Underworld as I think it would really work well with my eye color.
Ok, so these are my suggestions on things to purchase during the upcoming sale. I believe all of these brands are cruelty-free.
So tell me, what are you picking up during the sale? What are your must have items? What do you recommend?
Some products purchased by me. Some products sent for consideration. Some items lusted after by me. All opinions are my own.

Sephora IS doing a friends & family sale, but it is quite literally, friends and family only. I have a friend who works at Sephora and she has to give out these coupon cards to people in order for people to save the 20%. Then again, this may be a Canadian thing..? It started on the 18th and finishes on Halloween.
cloudboy I just edited and clarified that it is not for the general public. Last year everyone who had the code could use it. This year that’s not the case. But i don’t think people should be upset over it because there will be the VIB and BI sales.
I’m looking forward to the 20% VIB sale. I stock up every year during the sale. I’m really tempted to get the Urban Decay Ocho Loco eyeliner set, but also several things from this list of yours – Tarte’s Primed & Poreless, NARS Orgasm blush (mine’s almost gone!), the UD Smoked Palette, the UD Naked Skin foundation (I need a sale because I have to buy two colors since my skin’s a perfect mix of pink and yellow). I am also planning to get the UD Good Karma blush. Have you tried it with powder foundation by chance? I’m curious if it works well with both liquid and powder.
kissmysparkle I’ve tried it and it’s done a nice job with powders.
Phyrra Thanks so much! That’s great to hear.
I wish Sephora did a better job of listing ingredients on the website. That is the main thing that stops me from ordering from them. Yeah, I can usually find the ingredients elsewhere, but it can be such a hassle!
Corviddreams Yep, that’s why I always try to find ingredients for reviews that I write.
Phyrra Corviddreams Sometimes reviews are the only ingredients lists I can find. Product manufacturers are not always good about listing them either! So the info is always appreciated.
Oooooh so many goodies (that I own lol). I can DEFINITELY vouch for the TF eyeshadow insurance and the Urban Decay Deslick–used these on my daughter for Homecoming (we’re also in FL for those who don’t know) and NOTHING budged, NO OIL, NO SWEAT, NADA. She was extremely impressed so I guess I know what I need to get for her when she goes off to college
I will probably look at some more of the Tokyo Milk line (love their perfumes), some of the Cinderella goodies, and see what’s new in nailpolish (of course).
I had a 20% off coupon at Ulta that I used yesterday that was good on practically everything (for once). Several of the things you mentioned were on my list. I picked up a Clarisonic Mia and a couple of extra brush heads. I’m really excited to try it out! I was going to pick up the UD Naked Skin foundation, but they were sold out of my shade. That has now gone on my Sephora VIB sale list. If I get everything that I want (I shouldn’t), I would get the Tarte blush set and the Stila Smudgestick set too. The UD foundation brush just went on my wishlist too.
I was able to get a F&F code from a Sephora employee so I got the Tarte blush set and I must be the only one who didn’t think they were very good?! :-/ I have two full sized ones and I love them, but this set didn’t seem very pigmented to me when I swatched them…maybe it’s just me. I also finally got some of the new lip tars! (probably one too many, haha, but at 20% off and the set of 5 for 49.50 it was hard to pass up) Plus a few TT items that were left. I also picked up the Smoked set at Ulta’s 20% off…love it and the little book! I’m really wanting to get Boost lipgloss from Illamasqua as well, and Hourglass’ Siren…they are so pricey so I will only venture there during a sale, haha. I’ll probably just use the VIB sale to stock up on essentials like a backup foundation, primer and face wash.
