I live nearby in Vermont, winter dressing is so important here. That scarf is too awesome! I love it and it will look so pretty with your red hair.

@thecakepie Thank you! I am hoping between the scarf, sweaters and my winter jacket I'll be covered :)

Where I live (Seattle area) the winters are mostly not too cold and very rainy, so I finally bought a decent umbrella that I take everywhere with me. I haven't needed a winter jacket yet, though, but I usually wear a t-shirt or a cami under a sweater or sweatshirt. Also I live in my Uggs; I finally broke down and bought a pair last year, and I loved them so much I bought the slippers, and I wear them almost every day.

@blueraccoon I just can't see me wearing uggs, but it's great that they work for you ;)

@Phyrra @blueraccoon *hee* They're totally not for everyone, I admit that. But I hate socks, and these are really easy to pull on in the mornings and just go, which is good when I have to be at work at 6:30am.

Layers are always a good option, and I agree with warm tights!

Those sweaters are great!  I've also been eyeing infinity scarves ever since I saw them.  I keep telling myself I have too many scarves and don't really need them, but I suspect I've eventually break down.

@ladyandara I figure, it's ok to have 1 scarf, and I love it! It's so soft.

I believe in layering. It's not fun to be bundled up outside in a huge jacket and then go inside and have to take off & carry that jacket around. Plus, so many places have the heat so high, you sweat just wearing a tee shirt. So, a lot of times I'll wear a tee shirt, under a medium weight sweater, with a light-medium weight jacket, and a light- medium weight scarf.

Have fun in NYC. If I had the $ I'd pop down by train.

@auroragyps I was thinking the 3 sweaters, 1 scarf, a few t-shirts, and then I have a heavy (for me) suede jacket with fake fur that I've had for probably 10 years that never gets worn. It's good to know that it's very warm inside buildings in NYC. I won't panic and bring more sweaters.

@Phyrra @auroragyps Sounds good. You might want to take 1-2 pairs of tights, in case the temp drops or the windchill is bad, Also, if you have a cotton button down shirt that can go with the tees & the sweaters, you'll have another layering option. Every building is different heat wise, but since so many turn up the heat for the people that work there, it's good to be able to shed a layer or two indoors. Also, you'll want to bring a nice tote, messenger bag, or backpack with you to shove clothes & misc into and a mini umbrella, in case the weather isn't quite cold enough for snow (the city radiates a lot of heat, plus it's near the water, so while a couple hours upstate, we'll get snow, they get rain).
