tarte Call Of The Wild Amazonian Clay 8-Shadow Collector’s Palette Review & Swatches

Recently I picked up the tarte Cosmetics Call Of The Wild Amazonian Clay 8-Shadow Collector’s Palette from Sephora. As I really love the tarte LipSurgence and tarte blushes, I thought I would love this palette, too!

Meow call of the wild palette swatches

I expected to love the tarte Call of the Wild palette, since I love so many of my other tarte products. I found the eyeshadow payoff in Call and Jungle to be poor. While I loved Meow, I was disappointed in Wild as it pulls so very brown. I did like that there were matte shades in the palette, as I enjoy mixing textures with eyeshadows, but I had a hard time getting Roar and Lynx to apply evenly, though Primal was fine.

I don’t know if I got a dud, or if I just had higher expectations than warranted for this palette, but I’m very disappointed.

Beczause of the poor color payoff and overall disappointment with this palette I’ll be returning this to Sephora, and I do not recommend it. That’s why it only got 1 star.

That’s been my experience with Tarte shadows too. I love so many of their products, but just not their shadows.

      • http://www.Phyrra.net/ Phyrra

Whimsical Kelly I hope they improve!

Thanks for the honest review. There’s so many great palettes out there right now, it’s sometimes nice which to know which to pass on, too

        Catherine bcf You’re welcome!

I haven’t been impressed with Tarte shadows either, although I love many of their other products!

      • http://www.Phyrra.net/ Phyrra

Lulubelle107 The LipSurgence and blushes are great!

    • Suselew2

Totally agree about their shadows.  I do have one palette that is a significant improvement over the rest, but for the most part I skip Tarte shadows like I used to skip BBrown powder shadows (when I bought that brand before the China deal).  I also felt this palette color choices was poor.  If we are talking jungle, where is the green?  And why is there the blues?

      • http://www.Phyrra.net/ Phyrra

Suselew2 Yeah that’s a really good question. There should be a green.

    • thecakepie

Bummer, it sucks when you get products that don’t perform. I hate how uneven roar looks.

      • http://www.Phyrra.net/ Phyrra

thecakepie Me too. I returned it today.

I agree, I got a palette last holiday season and was just as disappointed. Their shadows are just not up to par. I returned it and got one of the BE palettes and couldn’t e more pleased with it. Sticking with BE for my natural pressed shadows :)

      • http://www.Phyrra.net/ Phyrra

oxana124 The BE Star Palette is so much better!

    • Theartismakeup

      • http://www.Phyrra.net/ Phyrra

Theartismakeup I would pass this palette up.

    • beautygnome

Meh, thats a bummer! I usually love Tarte shadows.

      • http://www.Phyrra.net/ Phyrra

beautygnome I feel like the odd man out because I didn’t like this palette.

    • leahofoz

:( I’m always looking for that perfect palette that has the right mix of neutrals and colors that I can take anywhere. This looked like a good one, but it seems like it performed so poorly…..the quest continues!

      • http://www.Phyrra.net/ Phyrra

leahofoz The ladies at the Sephora were nice when I returned it. They said ‘well, it’s a natural brand. You’re better off with Urban Decay.’

I thought the shadows in the gifts from the amazon collection were poor, too.  Great post

    • Theartismakeup
