Paula's choice Shade 1 and Shade 0 Comparison
I blended the two shades out, using an up and down motion. Fair / Light isn’t bad, but I feel like Porcelain melds nicely with my skin.
I have Shade 0 Porcelain on the left side of the picture (my right side). On the right side of the picture my face is naked.

I have Shade 0 Porcelain on the left side of the picture (my right side). On the right side of the picture my face is naked.

You can see here that Shade 0 Porcelain is a great match for my skintone. I put Porcelain on the left side of the picture (which is my right side of my face). The Right side of the picture is slightly splotchy (yay rosacea) and my naked skin. I feel like the foundation does a great job of evening out my skintone, brightening my face and erasing imperfections without making me feel like I’m wearing a mask.

You can see that the foundation partially covers the spots on my face that are rosacea damage.

Does it live up to its claims?
As far as I can tell, yes. I love the finish of this foundation on my skin. I feel like it’s a great ‘my skin but better’ type foundation. It seems to be like a brightening foundation that does make your skin look luminous and healthy. It does feel soft. It hasn’t irritated my rosacea or caused me to break out.

I apply it after I’ve applied my moisturizer with SPF. I dab it on my face on my t-zone and then I use my Urban Decay Good Karma Optical Blurring Brush to blend it outwards onto my skin. Porcelain really works with my skintone and blends into it perfectly. I really couldn’t believe how soft my skin felt while I was wearing it.

While it makes no claim on how long wearing it can be, it can last through a typical 8 hour day for me with no primer, though I do feel I need to touch it up. With primer, it can make it much longer. My favorite combination with it right now is using it with the Urban Decay Naked Skin Beauty Balm as a primer.

Would I purchase?
Yes! It’s tough to beat for the price point of $24.95!  My biggest concern with this foundation is that it has a limited shade range. It really only has light to medium shades. It doesn’t offer shades for those with deeper skintones. However, I am really pleased by the fact that there’s a shade that actually matches me, which is often not the case with foundations. I did take off 1/2 star because of the fact that the foundation is missing shades for deeper skintones. I think my friend Brittany would love this foundation if it came in her shade. I do think it’s the best liquid foundation that I’ve tried in this price range.

Have you tried the new Paula’s Choice RESIST Instant Smoothing Anti-Aging Foundation? Do you like it?

I wonder how you’ve liked the lip gloss. I’ve been curious about those.

blauriche the glosses are nice. I have a review of them coming up

        • blauriche

Phyrra I thought you might. I’m shivering with anticipation!

    • perilouslypale

I didn’t realize she’d come out with a foundation. It looks great and it’s SO NICE she came out with fair shades! Woo hoo!

      • http://www.Phyrra.net/ Phyrra

perilouslypale yes it is. Now she just needs some darker ones.

    • Sandy615

This looks absolutely perfect on you, Phyrra! I was hoping you’d pick the Porcelain shade. I’ve been looking for something to even out my complexion and this might just be it. Were you wearing primer in the pictures? If you noted that, I apologize for missing it. I typically skip primer because I feel it’s too many layers on me. I use CeraVe Am spf30 and that seems to act like a primer for me.
Also, you mentioned samples are available for purchase. Are they on the website, do you know?
Thanks so much, Phyrra. I love how this new foundation looks on you!

    • bcrueltyfree

Thanks for showing this… I’m a big believer in Paula’s Choice skincare so I’ve always been kind of curious about their makeup. I did try samples of some of their other foundations a while back, they weren’t bad at all but I wasn’t wowed either. Nice to see her coming out with some new ones

bcrueltyfree I’ve never tried her old foundations, but I love her skincare products!

    • pumpkindolly

Dat shade zero. At that price point I just can’t resist trying this out. Thanks so much, Phyrra!

This foundation looks absolutely fantastic on you. It looks like your skin is naturally perfect!  I’ve been wanting to try this, and that’s coming from someone who detests foundation. The only thing holding me back is I haven’t been able to double check my shade selection with Paula’s Choice Live Chat.

      • http://www.Phyrra.net/ Phyrra

BooBooNinja Thanks! Yeah I really love the color match.

FYI for everyone interested in this product. (I finally got through to someone on Paula’s Choice Live Chat!)
My skin tone is light/medium, MAC NC20/25, with yellowish undertones. I was told by the SA on Paula’s Choice Live Chat:
      - Shade 3 (Light/Medium) has more neutral undertones
      - Shade 4 (Medium) has yellowish undertones
I ordered samples of both shades. I can report back on how they work on me if anyone’s interested.
Also, I’ve learned the shades of Paula’s Choice Barely There Sheer Matte Tint SPF 30 have been renamed and reworked to be less yellow. The Tint is supposed to be far more light-weight than the RESIST Foundation.

UPDATE: There is a huge gap between Shade 3 and 4, with 4 being quite yellow and far darker than 3. I was re-matched to MAC NC 15 (!!) so in this RESIST Foundation, I’m probably most suited to Shade 3. Shade 3 is a little too neutral for me.

Added to my wishlist! This looks really nice on you, and I love the price point.

      Hey chica,
Do you find this foundation to be thick or difficult to blend out with fingers? Several of the reviews on Paula’s site suggest this has a texture that’s difficult to work with. This foundation newbie would appreciate any and all help. Nighty night. :)
