A while back I had the opportunity to try out the Josie Maran Argan Daily Moisturizer SPF 40. I love argan oil, so I was very excited to get my hands on this. It turns out that I’ve fallen in love with it.
The Website Claims
Argan Daily Moisturizer SPF 40 is your skin’s first defense against premature aging. This natural formula physically deflects UVA rays that can cause up to 80 percent of premature aging. It also shields from the harmful UVB rays that we encounter on sunny days or at the beach. Unlike traditional sunscreens, this natural formula is infused with Josie’s signature ingredient, Argan Oil, which repairs and reverses damage caused by the sun, fights sign of aging, and improves skintone for a radiant, renewed complexion. This sunscreen is extra mild and fast absorbing and it can also double as a great makeup primer. Argan Daily Moisturizer is lightweight, paraben free, and suitable for all skin types.

A Little About Argan Oil
Argan Oil is produced from the argan tree in the semideserts of Morocco. This oil is rich in Vitamin E and essential fatty acids, which have antiaging properties. This organic ingredient is known to help and prevent dehydration, inflammation, hyperpigmentation, and sebum production. It is your answer to naturally healthy, youthful, radiant, clear skin and hair.
$32 for 2 oz
I think I’ve found my new holy grail of moisturizers with SPF. To recap my skin, it’s sensitive with rosacea and combo (oily eyes and t-zone, normal elsewhere, but with my rosacea meds my cheeks get dry). Argan oil truly seems to be a miracle oil for my skin as well as my hair. This moisturizer has a slight sweet smell that reminds me of cherries that fades quickly. It’s on the watery side, yet it absorbs quickly into the skin. I don’t feel dry or oily. I feel well hydrated with it. It didn’t irritate my sensitive skin at all or exacerbate my rosacea.
I love that it has a physical sunblock with titanium dioxide and zinc oxide and that it’s a high SPF. Surprisingly, there is no white cast to my skin after use. If you put your foundation on immediately after application, this can serve as a primer but I really prefer to mix in a brightening primer with it if I want that effect, like Pixi’s Brightening Primer.
Finally, I love that the brand Josie Maran is cruelty-free and many of the products are vegan. They use natural and organic ingredients, which I like.
I’m really into argan oil in my beauty products these days and I’m happy to have a moisturizer with it. How do you feel about argan oil?
Have you tried the Josie Maran Argan Daily Moisturizer SPF 40?
Product sent for consideration. All opinions are my own.

Luv Luv Josie Maran SPF 40 moisturizer HG for at least 3 seasons out of the year. I haven’t tried it during summer yet so I’m unsure if it will be a year round HG. I’ve got Melasma (hyper pigmentation) and Rosacea so I’m very picky about my spf. This just works for me, period. Glad you like it too!
Meliv I just love how it feels on the skin, it doesn’t burn my eyes, it doesn’t exacerbate my rosacea, it’s moisturizing without being heavy, it’s just so perfect!
I literally JUST got a sample of the JMC matchmaker serum foundation from Sephora this week and used it today for the first time. If the moisturizer feels half as good, I will be impressed. I seriously don’t feel like I’m wearing anything.
Are you using this in conjunction with an eye cream, or can it multitask?
amarus I use this on my face, eyes, neck, decolette and hands.
I just finished a deluxe sample size of the Josie Maran SPF 40 – it was pretty good! Still haven’t found my HG SPF yet though.
Lulubelle107 There are 3 that I love:
This one, the Supergoop and the LaVanila.
Oh hey! That sounds perfect for my skin. I just ordered a sample.
hazakaza I hope it works out for you
I have been following your site for several months and its great and very informative! I have been wanting to try Josie Maran products and I’m also picky with moisturizers with SPF. I have sensitive skin, so I’m truly glad that this particular product does not have lavender oil. I love the smell of lavender but I don’t want it on my skin because its too fragrant and irritates the hell out of my skin. Thanks so much for the review and I’ll place an order for moisturizer directly from the Josie Maran website very soon!

I love the texture of this, and what originally drew me to the product was the physical sunscreen. However, it made my oily skin so frickin’ shiny! I still recommend it to clients all the time, great moisturizer with SPF for sensitive skin! I’m happy to hear it works for your combo skin!
PeaceLoveGlittr My skin has been so dry in places, yet oily in my t-zone and eyes. It really impressed me how it soaks in and doesn’t leave me feeling oily. I think my skin gets dry in places from my rosacea meds.
Oh man. I’ve been looking for a moisturizing, non-white-cast-y physical sunscreen for several months. This sounds like it’s exactly what I’ve been searching for. Unfortunately, Sephora doesn’t sell this product in Canada.

I love the SPF 40, but I have such oily skin, I can’t see putting an oil product on it daily. I might recommend it to a friend who has trouble with dry skin though, might be just what she’s been looking for.
