Spring Essentials

I’ve had spring on the brain lately, especially since I’ve started to see the spring makeup and clothing offerings from various brands. While I wanted to linger in fall, I seem to want to just skip over winter and get to spring already! I’ve put together a collage of some of my favorite colors for spring.

I should be up front and say that I often have trouble finding things I like to wear when I’m shopping for myself. I’m a bit under 5’4”, so I prefer to shop in the petites section for pants and skirts. I’m also pretty curvy, so that can make finding tops that fit a challenge. I favor interesting necklines and I really love keyhole tops. Ruching detail is something I like, too.

You all know that I love teal. Teal is not just for spring. Teal, in all of its varied hues, is truly for all seasons. I found several cute shirts that I’d wear for spring. I’m also into coral for makeup so I found my eye drawn to some coral tops. I love the detail of the bare shoulder peeking out from the coral fabric. While I rarely wear white, I couldn’t get over how cute the swirly high-low skirt can be. However, my favorite must-have from this set is the 2 Lips Too Too Detox heels in teal, coral and yellow.

Out of all of these pieces, I feel the 2 Lips Too Too Detox heels are the most versatile, since they can be worn with so many different colors. In addition to white, coral and teal, I’d also wear them with black. In fact, I created a collage of the different types of dresses that I’d wear with just that single pair of shoes.

Do you ever put together multiple outfits based off of a favorite pair of shoes or a top?

One of the things I always worry about is having my clothing fade. Everyone knows that black can fade, but sometimes colors do, too. So let me rave to you a little bit about Tide Pods.

While Tide Pods are not a new product, they are new to me.

Tide Pods are meant to be a powerful 3-in-1 detergent that cleans, brightens and fights stains. Their 3-chamber unit is the only one on the market. Together they make it easy to clean stubborn stains without having to measure out multiple products to put into your washing machine. In the past, you might have to apply a stain remover directly to the heavily soiled part of your laundry in addition to your normal cleanser. Instead, you just toss in a single pac and you’re done!

Tide Pods come in three scents: Spring Meadow, Ocean Mist and Mystical Forest. I was sent Spring Meadow. I typically don’t use anything scented on my clothes unless it’s a vanilla or chamomile scent, so I opted to try them out on some of my bright towels and linens.

As you can see the in the picture above, the Tide Pods are kind of cute. They almost remind me of a Pokémon Poké Ball. There are three separate chambers of cleanser in one pac. One pac is all you need to use for a single load of laundry. For an especially grimy, mud-encrusted load, you might want to toss in two Tide Pods, although they claim that just one pac removes more stains than 6 caps of the liquid bargain brand. (Based on stain removal performance of one pac of Tide Pods vs. 6 doses of the leading liquid bargain brand base variant in a standard top loading machine.)

For my dirty towels, which were gross, and some bed linens that just needed to be washed, I tossed in a single pac. 45 minutes later they were clean and ready for the dryer. I used cold water, as that’s my preference with most of my laundry. I hate to use warm or hot water for laundry. My towels came out clean and bright with no fading, albeit with a slightly flowery Spring Meadow scent. While I’m not a fan of the scent, Ray doesn’t mind it for this particular set of towels and sheets.

I wasn’t sure if the film packaging would dissolve in cold water, but it had no issues and I had no residue left on my laundry or in my washing machine. Overall, I was impressed with how well the Tide Pods worked! They left my laundry bright, not faded. I popped in a new kind of clean with my Tide Pods.

I have jewelry that enabled me to dress up or down my very minimal wardrobe.  I can wear my natural stone/wood jewelry for a earthy look.  I can wear my fun and funky plastic bird or mushroom jewelry for a fun, youthful, carefree look.  Finally I have some sparkly crystal jewelry that I can wear to give a bit of dressiness to my outfits.

It's hard to beat a black turtleneck or a black scoop neck top for versatility in your wardrobe. Really, they are a necessity.

I'm afraid I just rely on the boring t-shirt: Wear it alone, under a sweater, or over a long-sleeved shirt.
