Recently I had the opportunity to try out the Foreo Luna for sensitive skin. I’ve been testing the Luna for over 6 weeks now and finally I’m ready to talk to you about it!

About the Foreo Luna
The LUNA™ is available in three different models each with a distinct cleansing brush surface to suit a different skin type. All models also feature an anti-aging surface to help diminish the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines. The LUNA™’s soft silicone is ultra-hygienic, making it suitable for even sensitive skin! Plus it feels exquisite on the skin and is compatible for use with all standard nonabrasive cleansers, gels and creams. Smooth silicone touch-points direct up to 8,000 T-Sonic™ pulsations per minute, cleansing the skin deeply and gently without the abrasive rotary scouring of conventional sonic devices. No replacement brushes are needed for the LUNA™, it’s 100% waterproof and it boasts more than 450 uses from a single charge. The device comes with a 2-Year Limited Warranty and 10-Year Quality Guarantee – making the LUNA™ a true beauty investment.

One thing I noticed right away was that it is much gentler than even my extra sensitive brush heads for the Clarisonic. When I would switch in between the two, I would almost feel like the Clarisonic was scratchy in comparison.  I was shocked by how gentle, yet effective the Luna turned out to be. Keep in mind I’ve been in love with the Clarisonic for a long time so I didn’t expect to find anything else that could match, much less surpass, it in my book.

I also really like that it’s easy to clean and it doesn’t require that you change brush heads. Have you ever looked at the gunk that gets under the Clarisonic brush head? It’s so gross! Additionally you’re supposed to change the brush heads every 3 months, so at $25 a head that’s $100 a year. The Foreo Luna doesn’t require brush changings, so is less expensive for maintenance.

One of the things I really like about it is that in addition to its cleansing feature, it has a massage feature. So you can put it on different spots around your face and it’s relaxing. This is perhaps one of the strongest selling points to me, because I like being able to massage my face. Now this massaging I can do twice a day and it feels good. Though it recommends to use it twice daily for cleansing, I find this is something I use maybe 4 times a week for cleansing. I find myself reaching for it to massage my face far more often. It’s a nice way for me to relax and destress.

Of its 4 claims, I would say it lives up to all but the ‘skin looks and feels firmer’ because I didn’t notice a difference in my skin looking or feeling firmer. My skin is very clean and radiant with it.

Also, this little sucker holds  a charge forever! I’ve charged it ONCE since I received it and it hasn’t run out. According to the website, it can last through 450 uses before it needs another charge.

Overall, I really love the Luna! If you are thinking about investing in either a Clarisonic or a Luna, I would tell you to go for the Luna just because it’s so much easier to care for and doesn’t require you to purchase separate brushes, plus it has the awesome massage feature.

What do you think of the Foreo Luna? Do you like the idea of a massaging facial cleansing tool?

Very cool. I love the massage feature idea. With such severe tmj I feel like I could always use a face massage! This is now on my wishlist, right after the q-redew :-)

    • Styrch

I’ve been looking into trying something like this, whether this product or a Clairsonic. I have a very difficult time with exfoliation and the need to have “gadget help” in getting me to keep a routine seems ideal to me. The price has always been the tricky part for me, especially with a product where it takes a while to see results. Is it something I should be wary of?
Also, what types of cleansers do you recommend with these tools?

    • http://www.Phyrra.net/ Phyrra

Styrch I use Abbey St. Clare Aniba Cleanser because of my rosacea. Because it doesn’t have a detachable brush head like the Clarisonic, you can use any type of cleanser with it that you like. I now recommend this over the Clarisoinc (though it’s not bad by any means!) because 1. you don’t have to buy brushes at $100 / year, 2. you can use any cleanser with it (the Clarisonic you can’t use specific type of cleansers) 3. it has a massage feature 4. it’s gentler on the skin than the Clarisonic.

    • Styrch

Phyrra Styrch Thank you Phyrra. Yes, I gathered that based on your review. I guess my issue is getting over the idea of shelling out $200 regardless of device. You’ve convinced me though – your argument on replacing brush heads definitely will play a factor into my decision. Likely I’ll pick up the Foreo due to the items you mention (should I actually suck it up and go for it). I hope they have a sale. :)

    • Cindy Chanesaw

Did you see Wayne Goss’s video review of this? Hilarious. :D

    • Phyrra

Cindy, yes, I giggled like crazy!

    • HollieHaradon

I have a Foreo and I love it. I was afraid that it wouldn’t get my face as clean as my spinning brush by it really does. I love that it’s made of silicone and super hygienic, a huge plus in a wet environment. The motor is super powerful and I love the massage feature…its super relaxing. Crazy good battery life is a plus too.

    • Phyrra

Christine, omg yes, you will love it.

I am now debating between this and a Clarisonic. I don’t have sensitive skin or any other issues, really but cost is a big issue for me. Clarisonic is more affordable on the front end and I can get it in a sale with a coupon with is tempting. But this little gadget sounds lovely, too.
Aw, who am I kidding. I want both. Blech!

    • http://www.Phyrra.net/ Phyrra

Erika Costello In the long run the Foreo is cheaper because you’re not replacing a brush head every 3 months!

    • Erika IcyNails Costello

This looks amazing. Now I need to compare and contrast it and the Clarisonic. I can’t have both…

    • Jessika Barber

You ALL are making me want to try this so bad!

    • loveforlacquer

oh this is too cool! I will definitely check it out!

    • pammyblogbeauty

I love my Foreo Luna too!!! Mine is still on the inital charge as well. I find it so calming to cleanse with this every night. It is such a nice addition to my skincare routine and my skin has really improved with it! Love it!!! :)

    • Phyrra

This is definitely cheaper than the Clarisonic. I’ve spent twice the price since I replace my Clarisonic brush heads every 3 months.

    • Erika IcyNails Costello

Definitely something to keep in mind.

    • Phyrra

And believe me, I LOVED my clarisonic until I tried this.

    • Dinah Grace

Wow, I’ve never seen anything like that before. I want to try it.

    • paintedladies09

I looooooove the Luna. It’s a life changer!

    • Phyrra

Dinah, I think you would love it. Between the massage feature and the way the nubbies clean, it’s fantastic.

    • Marcia beauty info zone

I’m crazy about mine! It’s so gentle that you almost can’t believe how effective it is.

    • http://www.cinseven13.blogspot.com/ cinseven13

This will definitely go on my wish list!

    • PlasticDiaries

It just looks so weird!! Ok, granted, I thought a Clarisonic looked strange the first time I saw it but this does look a little stranger. I also wonder about the grime and build-up between the little heads. I don’t trust that just rinsing it will keep it hygienic for a long period. Do they suggest any special cleaning methods or just rinsing under hot water?

    • The Plastic Diaries

      This contraption looks so weird.

    • Trina Wilde Moskovitz

I love mine and my Clarisonics are just gathering cobwebs and dust.

    • http://www.Phyrra.net/ Phyrra

PlasticDiaries Wash the brush surfaces with soap and water, rinse with clean water and pat dry with a lint-free cloth or towel. They do not suggest putting it in the dishwaher.

    • http://www.Phyrra.net/ Phyrra

      @Trina Wilde Moskovitz Ditto!

    • http://www.Phyrra.net/ Phyrra

@The Plastic Diaries I know, but I love the massaging feature.

    • http://www.Phyrra.net/ Phyrra

      cinseven13 I think you’ll enjoy it :)

    • http://www.Phyrra.net/ Phyrra

Marcia beauty info zone Yes! I was like ‘did this really work? Wait yes it did!

    • http://www.Phyrra.net/ Phyrra

pammyblogbeauty I agree it really is calming.

My skin haaaates being scrubbed so I’ve never invested in a Clarisonic.  I’m interested in this because it seems like it’ll be way less abrasive than even the softest brush.

I bought the Foreo Luna for combination skin today! soo looking forward to trying it out. I had been researching the Clarisonic for months but just could not make myself risk it, overall it has so so many bad reviews out there, maybe even just as many as good. The luna on the other hand does have less reviews of course, but so far I have not read any adverse effects, only found one negative review which suggested for one customer that it didn’t perform or change her skin except for massaging her skin.
