Urban Decay Naked 3 Silk Naturals Naked 3 Clone Dupe Swatches Review Comparison

Today I’ve got the Silk Naturals vs. Urban Decay Naked 3 Dupes to show you. Silk Naturals has cloned the Urban Decay Naked 3 palette and I was asked to give you a side by side comparison between the two. As you know, I LOVE Urban Decay. I really really love Urban Decay. However, some people can’t wear UD because of the talc or bismuth, while others can’t wear UD because they need a vegan option. Enter Silk Naturals. I love their products, which are vegan and gluten free.

Price

Both are cruelty free. For more information on my definition of what brands are cruelty free, see my Cruelty Free Brand List. I believe brands are cruelty free even if their parent company is not cruelty free.

Now, I think the Silk Naturals appears more pigmented because they’re a loose product so it’s easier to pick up more at one time. Please believe me when I say that Urban Decay’s products are very pigmented and smooth. All swatches are on Coastal Scents Shadow Worx primer.

Urban Decay Strange vs. Silk Naturals Cache, Dupe, Clone Swatches, Review

Cache
a very very light, almost white pink with a nearly matte satiny finish.

Cache is slightly lighter, more matte, more pigmented than Strange. They’re both very easy to work with base shades.

Urban Decay Dust vs. Silk Naturals Status Clone Dupe Swatches Review

Status
a light, slightly warm shimmery metallic pink.

Status does not have fallout the way Dust does. Otherwise they look nearly identical to me. Status might be a touch pinker. They’re both gorgeous. I love the finish.

Urban Decay Burnout vs. Silk Naturals Tweak Clone Dupe Swatches Review

Tweak
a light satiny rose with just a little bit of peach. It’s a lovely one-color wash, great on the lid, and it just makes you look perky and alive.

Tweak is more peach toned than Burnout. Both have beautiful pigmentation.

Urban Decay Limit vs. Silk Naturals Analog Clone Dupe Swatches Review

Analog
a silky smooth dusty rose matte.

Analog appears more pigmented than Limit, and it’s a touch pinker.

Urban Decay Buzz vs. Silk Naturals Impact Clone Dupe Swatches Review

Impact
a warm rose metallic tone with a silky satin finish.

Buzz and Impact look identical to me. The way the light caught in the swatch pics because my hand is a slightly curved surface made Impact look slightly deeper.

Urban Decay Nooner vs. Silk Naturals Parallel Clone Dupe Swatches Review

Parallel
a medium-deep pinky brown matte.

Parallel looks like it’s slightly pinker than Nooner.

Urban Decay Trick vs. Silk Naturals Torrent Clone Dupe Swatches Review

Torrent
a pinkish golden copper with a satiny metallic finish.

Trick and Torrent look identical to me on the hand. The way the light caught in the swatch pics because my hand is a slightly curved surface made Trick look slightly deeper.

Urban Decay Liar vs. Silk Naturals Virtual Clone Dupe Swatches Review

Virtual
a deeper mauvish brown- meaning it’s brown with some plum undertones and a few pink highlights.

Virtual looks slightly more taupe/brown toned than Liar.

Urban Decay Factory vs. Silk Naturals Drive Clone Dupe Swatches Review

Drive
a toned down shimmery brown with rosy plum undertones, and a little bit of a golden copper highlight.

Drive has more red glimmers in it than Factory, but otherwise very similar.

Urban Decay Darkside vs. Silk Naturals Link Clone Dupe Swatches Review

Link
a deep taupe Suede with just a hint of shimmer.

Darkside and Link are not similar to me. Link is a darker brown with rainbow borealis glimmers. Darkside is more like a deep brown taupe.

Urban Decay Mugshot vs. Silk Naturals History Clone Dupe Swatches Review

History
a shimmery (albeit toned down a little) metallic taupe with a little bit of a red undertone.

Mugshot and History look very similar. Mugshot might be a touch warmer.

Urban Decay Blackheart vs. Silk Naturals Portal Clone Dupe Swatches Review

Portal is a dark slightly brownish black with coppery red sparkle

Blackheart and Portal are virtually identical except Blackheart has more red glimmers.

Overall I think the 12 shades are very close. Only Dust from UD has the fallout issue. A few of the shades do differ. However, I think if you can’t wear UD eyeshadows because they make you itch or you need a vegan product, Silk Naturals Naked 3 clone is a great

What do you think of the side by side comparison? Which shades are your favorites?

Awesome comparison! All but Darkside and Link look really, really close. I do wish they were closer, since I prefer the look of Darkside, but it doesn’t dampen my excitement for the set. I’m most interested in Tweak, Torrent, Virtual, and History, but they’re all super pretty! So glad Silk Naturals does these clone sets!

      • http://www.phyrra.net/ Phyrra

I really like how Darkside looks too, but Link is pretty as well. And it’s great that you can buy the SN shades individually.

    • Peaches & Pearls

I love that the Silk version is cheaper, yet is made without more “yucky” ingredients! But I’m still unsure of the loose shadows…I always tend to spill them and create a big mess. I still love them both!

      • http://www.phyrra.net/ Phyrra

They have sifters in them, if that helps

    • Jess

I have one of those annoying, nitpicky vegan questions. How can Silk Naturals be vegan if they use silk as an ingredient?

      • http://www.phyrra.net/ Phyrra

If you look at the individual ingredients listing, they’re not using silk in new products, but it is in older products. I believe they’re phasing out all products that contain silk or beeswax. At least from my understanding. All new products they’ve been creating do not contain these ingredients and are vegan and gluten free.

Please feel free to email Silk Naturals directly as they can answer questions about their products and ingredients :)

Ooh I think I’d pick up the silk naturals palette.

      • http://www.phyrra.net/ Phyrra

I can’t wait to see what you do with it

I am SO glad you posted this.

I got the UD Naked 3 after lots of sold out – now in stock – no, wait a minute, we’re sold out again – waiting and you know what? I think I’m allergic to the pinks in it, the colors I love the best. I’m allergic to some pinks and some purples so I am totally bummed because those colors look so beautiful on. But now I’m going to try Silk Naturals hoping whatever it is in the UD colors isn’t in the Silk Naturals products. Additionally, I’ve always loved loose powder shadows, so come payday I’m going to try at least one or two of the UD colors I can’t wear and see how it goes. THANK YOU for making me aware of Silk Naturals and another option for these hella beautiful colors.

      • http://www.phyrra.net/ Phyrra

You’re very welcome! One of my friend LOVES and I mean LOVES to the point of obsession Urban Decay products. However, she’s allergic to about half the eyeshadows and isn’t sure what ingredients. So she loves to be able to get her UD fix.

I hope you love Silk Naturals as much as I do :)

    • BeautyJudy

Thank you for the side-by-side comparisons, I was curious when you posted this the other day. I actually think I like the look of the pigmentation and colors of the Silk Naturals. I’ve been wanting to try the brand for a long time. Maybe this should be it!

      • http://www.phyrra.net/ Phyrra

They’re both fantastic! You definitely should.

    • Kendra Stanton

I need to cave and get this palette!

      • http://www.phyrra.net/ Phyrra

        It’s a great palette!

    • Beauty Tuesdays

I LOVE this comparison. Thank you so much for posting. I think I might get the Silk Naturals. It looks way more pigmented than UD.

      • http://www.phyrra.net/ Phyrra

you’re welcome! Both are very pigmented, it’s just easier to show how pigmented loose shadows are in comparison.

    • http://www.painted-ladies.com/ Sheila Arkee

This is a great comparison! I want both sets!

      • http://www.phyrra.net/ Phyrra

        Hehe! I know the feeling!

    • Pammy Blogs Beauty

Thanks for the swatches!!! Some of those dupes are dead-on!!! Honestly, I have never heard of Silk Naturals and now I am totally intrigued by the brand. The shadows swatched beautifully and I love how natural the shadows are. Plus, how cool that they have a Naked 3 dupe kit! The Urban Decay swatches look amazing, too. I am such an Urban Decay fan!!! Such great shadows!

      • http://www.phyrra.net/ Phyrra

They’ve got so many colors you’ll love Pam!

    • http://judixo.blogspot.com/ Judikins

Great swatches!! Even though I have Naked 3 I want to support indie and get the clone.

Great side by side comparison! I’m happy I went with the Silk Naturals version :)

      • http://www.phyrra.net/ Phyrra

Yay glad to hear it :)

    • Allison @neversaydiebeauty

Wow, thanks for this! Since I’m trying to stick with mattes, there are really only 3 shades I’d wear, so in addition to the w/o options from Silk Naturals, I can just buy those matte shades separately from them, Yay

      • http://www.phyrra.net/ Phyrra

Yep! Strange is my favorite of the mattes. Don’t miss out on Blackheart though! It’s such a cool color.

        • Allison @neversaydiebeauty

          light and dark ;)

    • Betzy Carmona

I am sad to say I have not heard of silk naturals before this post and now I’m going to check them out – thank you :)

      • http://www.phyrra.net/ Phyrra

They’re awesome! They have a ton of vegan products!

    • http://lookshop.tumblr.com Danielle

Another thing for readers to consider is that while Urban Decay may be cruelty free, they’re owned by L’Oreal, which is not a cruelty-free company. I’m not trying to say that buying from UD is bad or anything because of this, but it’s an important aspect to consider for some cruelty-free consumers.

      • http://www.phyrra.net/ Phyrra

        Hi Danielle!
If you click on my ‘Cruelty Free Beauty Brand List’ at the top I clearly share my viewpoint on what is cruelty free to me. I support companies that are cruelty free, such as Urban Decay, the Body Shop, bare Minerals and NARS, even though their parent companies are not cruelty free. I want companies to see that cruelty free brands are financially viable and switch all of their companies to be cruelty free.

        • http://lookshop.tumblr.com Danielle

I totally respect that, and I’m sorry if it seemed like I was directing that comment to you specifically. I just wanted to point it out for any readers who may be interested.

          • http://www.phyrra.net/ Phyrra

No problem! Some people miss the ‘Cruelty Free Beauty Brand List’ at the top, so wanted to point that out.

    • Kristin Chan

Can you do this for the Naked 2 clone as well? I’ve been interested in how close the two actually are.

      • http://www.phyrra.net/ Phyrra

I don’t own UD Naked 1 or Naked 2. I don’t know if anyone I know locally has it to let me borrow it and swatch the colors for you. I’ll look through my individual UD colors to see if I can swatch some of those for you.

        • Kristin Chan

Aww that’s sweet of you Phyrra but you don’t have to! I was just curious. Thanks anyway!

    • FabZilla_Kath

Wow, those are indeed close dupes! I haven’t tried anything from Silk Naturals.

    • Chia-Yi Liu

      great post phyrra!

    • xxxlxxx

I wish I saw this before I bought the Naked 3! I have to say I was disappointed with the Naked 2 (especially when compared to Inglot dupes), and I was hoping Naked 3 prove to be much better, but these swatches make me wish I bought Silk Naturals. Anyway, great post! Thanks :)

    • Kendra Stanton

Wow…this is really similar! Great comparison.

I’d love to see you do some tutorials with the Silk Naturals pallet. I get confused on which colors match up to UD!!

      • http://www.phyrra.net/ Phyrra

You got it! I’ll add it to my list.
