January 2014 Short Hairstyle

As you know, my beauty resolution for 2014 is to grow my hair out. So I’m growing out my pixie! However, that doesn’t mean I should skip getting it trimmed! Today I went to Cameo Salon to see my stylist Lori and get my first haircut of 2014. When you’re growing out your hair, it’s good to get regular trims, not because it helps your hair grow faster, but because it helps you keep the hair you’re growing.

I’ve been taking biotin to help with my hair growth but it’s too soon to really see the results yet. I think it takes at least 6 weeks to see any results.

I explained to Lori that I want to grow my hair out, so I really only wanted the ends trimmed. She blunt cut the back of my hair, since she said that would make it stronger than having it point cut in the back. She skimmed the edges of the rest of my hair. She shaped my fringe around my eyes.

It makes me so upset that one of the last products I bought from Stila happens to be one I love. I picked up Smoke, Pink Violet, Antique, and Kitten during 2013 but didn’t play with them until recently. I wish Stila hadn’t changed their cruelty free prophecy. I’m also a little sad that the Tarte Smoky Quartz color is no longer available, because it’s gorgeous, and people who love greys need it.

Anyway, enough tears over lost brands.

I love my hair! I love that my stylist is supportive of me growing it out. She also loved Special Effects Blue Mayhem and said it’s a stunning blue. Then she asked me when I’m going back to a teal, because she prefers teal on me :P Gotta love it! As soon as I can find Fishbowl Blue in stock, I’m picking it up.

What do you think of my My January Special Effects Blue Mayhem Short Hairstyle? When you’re growing your hair out, how do you get it trimmed? Do you take any supplements?

Love the cut! Special Effects has had inventory problems for years, and everyone goes crazy waiting for their color to become available again. It’s great stuff, but unless you stock up, it can be a real pain waiting months for your shade!

        I NEED more SFX!

I love your hair. I know you’ll go through some painful months growing it out but this is a beautiful look. Also love the makeup you did, that lipstick with your color hair is gorgeous.

Thank you! Yeah Lori did a great job styling my hair. I can never get it to look perfect the way she does.

For hair growth I take biotin on a daily basis and also all of my regular vitamins :) I also take MSM. Even though it is a vitamin supplement for bone health, its supposed to help with hair growth. Just started to take the MSM so cannot tell if it works for me. :)

I’m taking Biotin and my normal vitamins :)

It looks great! I’m super bad; I always cut my hair to a layered bob and then let it grow out. My hair grows like a weed and it takes my poor hairdresser 2-3 hours to get through it.

I am thinking of going red though and that requires more maintenance so I would take better care of it then. ;)

Use sulfate free shampoos! Try the Cocoa Pink Princess Poo shampoo. It’s easy on color.

Looks great! Love the colour but I also love teal on you. I’m terrible at letting short cuts grow – it took me years to grow out a pixie! Really love this eye look – I was just this afternoon lamenting over some Mac shadows (bought years ago) that are diminishing that I’ll never be able to get again – so sad, I wish animal testing was straight up outlawed worldwide. Cheeky Baby looks so good on you!

        I miss the teal!

I LOVE the blue color on you! I would love to add some color to my hair but am older so I don’t know if it’s appropriate. I also wouldn’t know how to do it. lol If I could learn, maybe just the underneath hair? IDK. You rock it well though!

Try underneath or try clip ins :)

    • Lulubelle

Very nice cut, and I like the blue on you!

Thanks! I miss my bright teal, but blue is nice for winter.

I love your cut! Similar to mine, except I have the blue streaked into black. This site says that Special Effects has shipped to them and colour is on the way, as of today! https://amaltheasattic.com/index.php/special-effects-hair-dye-917.html
