Thundershirt for Phaedra

Thundershirt

Phaedra’s Thundershirt arrived today! I’m so glad! I was concerned it wouldn’t arrive before the next storm happened.

So the Thundershirt is supposed to help with a lot of things in addition to the fear of thunder. It claims to work by applying constant, gentle pressure to the animal’s torso. This is supposed to have a calming effect for most dogs. It says it offers a success rate of over 80%.

I can’t wait to see how it works for Phaedra. I’ll let you know whether it works or doesn’t work.

I hope it works. It can be hard for a dog to live in Florida with all the rain storms. Poor baby. Have you ever posted any pictures of her? I’d love to see your baby!

No problem! She’s my angel <3 I mean I love my other dogs but she's the one that really gets me. She's my perfect companion.

It worked somewhat for a friend of mine. As dogs age they become more sensitive to noise. My dalmatian was fine when young but when he was older he was terrified of storms. I’ve seen them at Costco behind where you pick up prescription. I don’t know the cost there but it’s worth checking out to see if your Costco has them.

My parents had a Great Pyrenees that had massive anxiety issues over storms to the point that he would have to be sedated to keep him from harming himself in a blind panic. He LOVED his Thundershirt & would beg to have it put on when he could sense a storm coming. He’d sit in front of the closet where my mom kept it & would whimper until she put it on him. It didn’t totally eliminate his need for medication, but reduced the amount/frequency of it. I hope Phaedra loves it as much as Buster did.

I am definitely interested to see how it works for Phaedra! While our dog is not afraid of storms, she has massive separation anxiety. We take her everywhere when we can but until I can work with her as my therapy dog (and therefore be able to travel with her more often) I’ve wondered if this would work for her. Good luck!!!
