I’m excited to share with you my Urban Decay Electric Pressed Pigment Palette review. Urban Decay has gone back to its roots with this palette and brought you 10 bright, velvety shades. Two of the eyeshadows you’ve seen before – Revolt from Anarchy (see my review) and Chaos from Vice 1 (see my review). The other 8 shades are brand new.

About the Urban Decay Electric Pressed Pigment Palette
As much as we love Naked, we’re serious color junkies at heart. When we launched The Vice Palette and saw how CRAZY everyone went over Chaos (a brilliant matte blue), we realized our fans craved bright shades as much as us. Inspired by Chaos, Urban Decay launches Electric Pressed Pigment Palette. The ultimate fix for color addicts, this gorgeous palette is packed with ten of the brightest, most amazing shades you’ve ever laid eyes on. In addition to Chaos (yes, it’s back!), this palette marks the return of Revolt (a silver standout from our Anarchy Face Case). All the other shades are NEW! From ultra-smooth mattes to highly dimensional shimmers, each VELVETY shade delivers insane color payout. Why do a Pressed Pigment Palette? Using pressed pigments was the only way to create heavily saturated brights with the intense pigment load we craved. Traditional eyeshadow formulas just wouldn’t cut it.
If you’ve tried seemingly bright shades like these before, you know that a lot of them appear brilliant in the pan, but in reality look chalky, lack smooth application and don’t look anywhere near as vibrant on your eye. Not so with Electric. We carefully crafted the formula on every shade to make sure each one would apply with a soft and creamy texture and deliver serious color payout. Wende can’t get enough of Jilted (an unbelievable bright metallic fuchsia with a blue shift). And our Product Development team is really into Fringe (a gorgeous, bright metallic teal), Urban (the most amazing bright metallic purple) and Freak (a bright green with a gold shift, inspired by our 24/7 Eye Pencil shade).
$49 for .04 oz x 10.
Sephora, Ulta, Macys, Beauty.com, UrbanDecay.com starting March 18.
I emailed Urban Decay to ask about Slowburn, Savage, Jilted and Urban:
“I know that 4 of the colors in the Electric Palette are not intended for use in the immediate eye area. Is this because the FDA has not yet tested or approved neon pigments for use in the immediate eye area here in the USA? Are these the same pigments that are safe in Europe and Canada?”
Their response to me was:
You are correct. These shades contain a colorant that is not FDA-approved for the use around the immediate eye area; however, it is FDA-approved for external use on the lips, face and body. It’s important to note that this restriction only applies in the U.S.; in every other market where Urban Decay is sold, this colorant is approved for use around the immediate eye area.
If you are looking for dupes for the colors that are not FDA approved, see my Electric Palette Dupes.
Because I have sensitive eyes, I recommend using those colors carefully, especially if you have sensitive eyes. Make sure that you are not sensitive to them. If you have any issues, see your doctor immediately. I wore Urban all day yesterday with no issue, but I’m still going to be careful as I try out the other 3 shades on my eyes, just to make sure I won’t have a reaction.
If you know you are sensitive and don’t want to risk using the 4 non-FDA-approved colors, I would recommend trying Urban Decay Frigid or Freakshow instead of Urban, Urban Decay Fishnet or Junkshow (or maybe the two mixed together) instead of Jilted, and Urban Decay Woodstock instead of Savage, though Woodstock is not matte. Alternately you could try Sugarpill Dollipop instead of Savage. For Slowburn I would recommend Makeup Geek Mandarine.
Similar shades that are FDA-approved
You’re getting 10 slightly less than full size eyeshadows since typical eyeshadows are .05 and these are .04. So you’re getting a good deal at $49 for 10 eyeshadows.
I absolutely love the packaging. I loved the Vice 2 (see my review) and its smoky purple packaging, so the smoky electric neons for this palette is definitely to my taste. The palette is sturdy, yet compact and I could see this working well for travel if you want to take brights with you. The double ended brush that comes with it is super cute. I love the purple bristles with the black handle. Inside the sleek palette there’s a large mirror with UD embossed on it. It’s a really fabulous design.
All swatches are on Cover FX Eyeshadow Primer.
Revolt – bright metallic silver shimmer with silver glitter
This has a lot of fallout, though it’s not as bad as the one in the Anarchy Face Case.
Gonzo – bright turquoise matte with floating tonal pearl
This is my ideal bright turquoise / teal blue shade. I absolutely love it. It’s my favorite color in the entire palette. It’s very pigmented. There was only the tiniest amount of fallout during application with it for me, and that was easy to clean up with makeup remover.
Fringe – bright metallic teal
This is a beautiful metallic teal shade that I felt was perfectly balanced. Not too green, not too blue. I felt it leaned a tiny bit more towards blue, which I prefer. It was easy to work with.
Freak – bright green with gold shift
This is a really cute frosty bright green. It makes me think of limes.
Thrash – bright lime green matte with floating gold pearl
This is my second favorite color in the palette. It’s got a velvety finish with the way the gold floats on top of the lime green. I love this color to bits.
Chaos – bright blue matte with floating tonal pearl
This is a stunning bright blue, definitely not for the faint of heart.
Urban – bright metallic purple
This is a great shimmery purple and it was very easy to blend out. This one leaves a slight stain on the skin after removing. My eyes are still slightly stained after wearing it yesterday.
Jilted – bright metallic fuchsia with blue shift
It really does remind me of the Jilted lipstick and the blue shift is very strong. Great color. This one leaves a slight stain on the skin after removing.
Savage – bright hot pink matte
Cheerful bright hot pink. This one leaves a slight stain on the skin after removing.
Slowburn – bright red-orange matte with floating pearl
Super bright orange with red tones. This one leaves a slight stain on the skin after removing.
See my tutorial.
I created a tutorial featuring Gonzo (lid), Urban (crease), Thrash (inner v and inner lower lash line), and Fringe (outer lower lash line).
Overall I’m thrilled by the Electric palette. I love the brights. My favorites from the palette are Gonzo, Thrash, Fringe, Jilted and Urban. These colors can easily be worn as a pop of color with more neutral shades, or as a super bright all over color with graphic black liner. They’re lots of fun.

I love bright colors!!! Love fringe & trash
Thrash is stunning with its floating gold pearl
I’ve yet to own an Urban Decay palette, this is definitely going to be the 1st one I try out.
This is a great way to start!
Even better if i won this lol xD Never win a giveaway would be crazy if this was my first. I can always dream xD
Yowza! These are beautiful! Great swatches, Phyrra!

Gonzo is gorgeous.
It’s my favorite <3
Jilted I want!!! Awesome colors!
Isn’t it a gorgeous shade?
OMG yes!! Between Gilted, Chaos and Urban I think I can easily justify buying another palette. Lol… Amazing swatches girl!
Wow! This is pretty. When this palette goes live, insanity will ensue! LOL
Agreed! I think it’s awesome.
These are absolutely beautiful! I can’t decide which shade I like best. With my budget, I’m afraid I won’t be able to buy this but I can look at it, at least. Have a wonderful day!
I’m glad you like the shades!
This palette is to die for!!
It is pretty amazing!
AHHHHH. I need this!
Beautiful look! I love it! The video shows off the color way better and lookks AMAZING!
Agreed! The video really helps to capture the velvety nature of these brights
All of these colors are just so out of this world. This type of palette is much more attractive to me than the nakes, to be honest! You can find millions of dupes for those shades but definitely not these!!
I love the brights too, they’re my favorite
My favourites are Urban, Fringe, and Gonzo. What a bummer Urban isn’t eye-safe because vibrant purples are hard to find. How alike are Fringe and Deep End?
Hi! I wore Urban yesterday for over 12 hours with no issue on my sensitive eyes. BUT it did leave a stain on my eyes (just like it left one on my hands).
I’ll try to swatch Fringe and Deep End side by side for you. There are several other shades I want to swatch together, too.
Did you see UD’s official statement on those 4 shades?
Fringe and Urban are absolutely fantastic! I resisted two latest Naked palettes, but this one is a must have, just so I have some vivids in my collection
Yes, even if you only use the vivids for a color cat eye, they’re awesome to have
This is a beautiful bright colorful palette. I would love to add to my ud small collection. Your review is great :0)
Thanks Melissa! I’m glad you like it
I think UD is following you closely. lol Gonzo was made especially with you in mind! Thanks for the cool giveaway!
I love Gonzo! It’s the perfect shade of turquoise / teal blue <3
Finally….Something to brighten my mood through my eye color eyeshadow in this freezing Chicago weather!!!!!! Love, love, love, love, love it’s color brights and specially color CHAOS! It’s will be like wearing rainbows on my eyes!!!!!!
A total WIN that they are not chalky!!!
I’m anxiously wait for the Sehpora launch of this palette I’m I’m sure I’m not the only international buyer as well.
I am so excited for this palette! I am ALL about the brights!
I couldn’t do this palette but it’s got your name all over it. The colors are gorgeous.
OH EM GEEEEEEE Those colors are so… WOW! I think Fringe may be my favorite
Those are some gorgeous colors! I keep wanting brights but they never have enough pigment. This looks like the motherlode!
Wow, I am surprised they are that pigmented. I was skeptical that they would be like most other “bright” palettes. I definitely need this one.
This makes my inner rainbow fairy happy. Thanks for the giveaway!
I sure hope I win! Fringe is gorgeous.
awesome Thanks for the giveaway.
I am over the moon for this palette! Can’t wait to get mine!
Argh, this isn’t out until the end of March in the UK… Hopefully I can abstain from Evil-Bay….
Not available in Australia, but my mum just happens to be in Hawaii on the 23rd of March and has said she’s hitting sephora for me…I’m scared to get my hopes up, it might be either sold out or not in store yet, but I want it so baaaad!!
I hope she can snag it for you
This palette is like a dream come true! I think my favorite colors are Fringe and Jilted. I hope I win! Fingers and toes crossed LOL.
I don’t have any bright brights yet in eyeshadow form..luv em on my nails & eyeliner so I can’t wait to try this..not shure about the silver yet.seeing it in pics makes it just look outta place altho I luv my silver shadow in my Balm jovi palette so so much so mabey this will be a replacement for me since I’ve hit pan.
I love silver but I think it’s meant for a center of the lid or inner corner pop of sparkle.
These colors are all so beautiful, thanks for the swatches!
I am so in love with this, I love love bright colours
Brights make me happy
So excited about this palette, love the colors!
Yeah it’s stunning!
I especially love Freak and Thrash! I adore chartreuse eyeshadows! All the shades are really wonderful. I’m so happy to see UD putting out a palette of brights! The packaging is really beautiful too! *swoon*
I’ve never had any problems with eyeshadows/eye makeup before but to be on the safe side I’m going to patch test the four shades on the inside of my arm before applying them to my eyes. I have lots of allergies and sensitive skin so I’d rather be safe than sorry.
I’m like you – lots of allergies! I’ve now tested all 4 shades and while I have not had a reaction to any of them, it’s still possible for anyone with sensitivities to have a reaction.
Completely in love with this palette!!! Gorgeous swatches!
This palette looks AMAZING!!! I cant wait to add it to my collection!!
Wow, I’ve had Naked 3 on my to-buy list for a while; but this might have to get bumped to the top of the list! Thanks for the swatches.
