Blue for Autisum Awareness Month

Autism Awareness Mani

Today the Beauty Bloggers of Central Florida have teamed up to share manis for Blue for Autisum Awareness Month. For my mani, I used three nail polishes – Urban Decay Chaos, Rainbow Honey Bubble Beam, and Girly Bits #Blingernails.

Urban Decay is cruelty free and Leaping Bunny certified. UD Chaos nail polish is vegan.
Rainbow Honey is cruelty free and vegan.
Girly Bits is cruelty free.

  • I used Chaos as my base color.
  • I put 1 layer of Bubble Beam on top of Chaos.
  • For an accent I used #Blingernails, since it has pretty gold glitter stars.

I chose Urban Decay Chaos because it’s a vibrant blue and great for layering. I chose Rainbow Honey Bubble Beam because it’s a complex, iridescent blue jelly with shades of blue glitter inside it. I chose Girly Bits #Blingernails, a holographic gold glitter top coat and used a single gold star for hope.

I hope you enjoyed seeing my blue mani. Be sure to check out the rest of the Blue for Autisum Awareness Month posts.

I love that you are supporting autism awareness. My best friend’s brother has autism and it’s always great to see people supporting the cause!

Several of my friends have children with autism, so it’s always in my mind.

I am not sure how wearing blue makeup helps anyone with autism. Maybe I am missing something but aren’t there more productive things people can do like give a donation (the money that would have been spent on new makeup) to a foundation that funds research, volunteering in an autism classroom, urging legislators to make ABA therapy for autism covered by insurance and so on. I think by now people are pretty much aware that autism exists. There is so much year round publicity especially with the new findings that 1 in 68 children are affected – 1 in 48 boys. I don’t mean to be critical. I teach children with autism and know that the majority of schools are just not equipped to offer them what they need to become successful, productive citizens.
