Makeup Geek Blushes Review and Swatches

Makeup Geek Blushes Review and Swatches

Good Morning! Today I’m happy to show you the new Makeup Geek Blushes! I was very excited when I found out Marlena would be releasing blushes to round out her makeup line. I’ve been very impressed with her eyeshadows and brushes, and I thought I would love her blushes too.

Update: All Makeup Geek blushes are vegan except for the ones that contain carmine (Romance and First Love). The Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Octyldodecyl Stearoyl Stearate and Stearoyl Stearate are all synthetic and not animal-based in these blushes.

Shades I Like Best

The packaging is pretty sleek and lightweight for the compacts. They’re smaller than most of my other blush compacts.

I think that the Makeup Geek Blushes are a great value for the price, since you can get the refills for $9.99 / $12.99 for .15 oz of product. Compare that to a MAC blush which is $21 for .21 oz.

The blushes are quite pigmented, so you will use less product to get your glow on. The formula is easy to work with and the colors are very true to pan. I love how the shimmery shades give you a sophisticated luminescence as opposed to a chunky glittery mess.

Overall, I’m very impressed with the blushes that Marlena created. Much like her eyeshadows and brushes, I feel these are great products that she put a lot of time and effort into getting just right. There’s a great shade range available so you’re sure to find 2 or 3 shades to suit your taste.

If you’re unsure of how to apply pigmented brushes, I highly recommend trying the Real Techniques Duo Fiber brushes.

What do you think of the new Makeup Geek Blushes? Which shades would you wear?

I ordered all 13 yesterday! can’t wait to get them!!

      • http://www.phyrra.net/ Phyrra

Yay! Which shade do you think you’re looking forward to the most?

    • Kirsty

Thanks for noting which ones have carmine! How would you compare Bliss and Smitten? On my monitor it looks like Smitten is slightly more orangey???

      • http://www.phyrra.net/ Phyrra

To me, they’re both very similar, though Bliss is matte. I think Smitten is probably more orange, while Bliss is sort of more peach/apricot.

Great review! I grabbed Spellbound, Hanky Panky and Secret Admirer!

      • http://www.phyrra.net/ Phyrra

        Great choices :)

    • Allison @neversaydiebeauty

Great post! I’m trying to decide between Romance and Bliss coz I can only do one. It’s a lovely collection

      • http://www.phyrra.net/ Phyrra

I would go for Romance, if only because it gives a beautiful luminescence to the cheeks

    • http://www.makeuplifelove.com/ jamie @makeuplifelove

Great great post. Romance, Spring Fling, smitten and Love Affair on my wishlist. Love the names of them too. Beautiful!

      • http://www.phyrra.net/ Phyrra

Marlena did a great job with the names and colors :)

    • http://www.slashedbeauty.com/ Miranda Mendoza

Those blush organizers look really nice!

      • http://www.phyrra.net/ Phyrra

I love them! And they work for more than just blushes. They’re good for my bareMinerals Ready quads :)

    • hollyjans

Romance and Summer Fling catch my eye !! They look gorgeous !. I also like that there seems to be a great a variety for the fair skinned. I have a lot of fair skinned friends who have a hard time finding blush that don’t make them feel like they’re clowns.

      • http://www.phyrra.net/ Phyrra

A fiber optic blush brush, like the one I show in the video, is essential for fair skin. I’ve got a ton of blushes – from vivid to soft – and using a brush like that makes it easy to apply the vivid ones.

I am so glad that I found this I was just getting ready to place an order but its so hard to tell colors just by a picture.

      • http://www.phyrra.net/ Phyrra

So glad you find it helpful, Teresa!

By the way I love the organizers!!

        Glad you like them Justina!

These look great! I like how there’s such a range of light shades for fair skin like mine. It can be hard to find blushes light enough to look natural. I’m in love with so many of the colors. Thanks for the swatches!

      • http://www.phyrra.net/ Phyrra

There really is a great range of shades

    • http://www.honeygirlsworld.com/ Honeygirlk

These are gorgeous. Romance is my favorite. I need to pick up some Makeup Geek brushes and blushes and shadows… I don’t own any – I had one brush but it broke :/

      • http://www.phyrra.net/ Phyrra

I love that shade too! Oh no, that’s terrible that the brush broke

        • http://www.honeygirlsworld.com/ Honeygirlk

Yes – it was my angled eye liner brush. My littles can get into my makeup stash and do finger paints, apparently that was their painting brush of choice. lol

These are nice but I don’t think they’d be pigmented enough for me.

      • http://www.phyrra.net/ Phyrra

I think Hanky Panky, Summer Fling, and Love Affair might be?

    • Noelle

Head Over Heels is so gorgeous!

      • http://www.phyrra.net/ Phyrra

I think it’s really pretty too!

    • Icequeen81

        Yes, yes it is :)
