$45 for .5 oz

Key Ingredients

  • Octinoxate: 7.5%
  • Zinc Oxide: 10.1 %
  • Oat Peptide: Hydrates and supports the natural production of collagen.

I’ve got a love hate thing with the packaging for this this eye cream with SPF. I love the tube shape. I hate the gimmicky ‘cool tip applicator.’  I think applicators like this are just silly. The rest of the packaging is nice, since it’s light-tight and sturdy.

I think it’s obscenely expensive for the price since it’s $45 for only a mere half ounce. I do realize that I’m only using it for my eye area, so it will last quite a while, but it still is a tough price to swallow. I’d rather see the gimmicky tip dropped and replaced with more product for the price. If I remind myself that in addition to providing top notch SPF it also is supposed to be anti-aging and reduce under eye puffiness, it makes it slightly easier to swallow. However, this is why I tend to just invest in great moisturizer with SPF because I don’t balk at $45 for my entire face, especially since I look at how many ounces you get for the price.

I love the formula of the eye cream. It’s definitely hydrates my eyes well. It absorbs nicely. It doesn’t irritate my sensitive eyes at all. It doesn’t leave a greasy film. I’ve been using it for about three weeks. While I don’t typically suffer from under eye puffiness, I do feel like I have fine lines. My eye area has been very dry and I feel like this product really does help to hydrate it well.

Despite my dislike of purchasing separate products for the eyes, this is an eye cream with SPF I will most likely repurchase because it does work so well, contains zinc oxide, and has anti-aging properties.

What do you think of the Supergoop line? Have you tried this eye cream?

Pros

  • Cruelty free
  • Paraben free, Sulfate free, Phthalate free
  • Gluten free
  • Non-irritating for my sensitive eyes
  • Great formula

Cons

  • Small amount of product for the price
  • Gimmicky applicator tip

Urban Decay 24/7 Velvet Glide-On Eye Pencils

First Urban Decay released Black Velvet, and it was beautiful… a plush, smoky black. Then the 24/7 Velvet Glide-On Eye Pencils came to be, as UD decided more rich smoky shades needed to happen. These shades are supposed to be easier to blend out for a colored smoky eye or soft smoky edges.

Shades
Black Velvet – rich, smoky black matte
Plushie – smoky, rich purple matte
Minx – smoky, rich navy matte
Cult – deep smoky, green matte
Lure – smoky charcoal matte
Lush – rich, smoky brown matte

I love that the packaging on these is slightly different from your standard 24/7. While the barrel matches the eyeliner color, the top and bottom are a matte gunmetal, making them easier to sort from the silver capped originals.

L to R – Black Velvet – Minx – Plushie – Cult – Lure – Lush

Urban Decay 24/7 Velvet Eyeliner and Eyeshadow Combinations

Eyeshadows to pair with these Eyeliners
Plushie – try Omen, Flash, Fishnet or Gravity
Lure – try Verve, S&M, Mushroom or Pistol
Minx – try Shattered, Haight, Deep End or Evidence

Urban Decay 24/7 Velvet Eyeliner and Eyeshadow Combinations
Eyeshadows to pair with these Eyeliners
Cult – try Mildew, Half Baked, Kush or Loaded
Lush – try Midnight Cowgirl, X, Half-Baked, Sidecar, Snatch or Smog
Black Velvet – Smog, Midnight CowGirl, Scratch, Gravity or Woodstock

I hope you like some of my eyeshadow and eyeliner pairing suggestions.

I found Black Velvet, Lure and Lush to be the best to work with. Cult was nice. Minx and Plushie were not as easy to work with as they dragged a bit. But you can still blend these out pretty easily. In addition to Black Velvet, I really love Lure, Minx and Cult. The names are really cute, too.

I think this is a really nice mix of colors. If you find black eyeliner too harsh, you’re likely to love the brown or blue. The green is a really nice shade, too. I think there’s something for everyone.

What do you think of the Urban Decay 24/7 Velvet eyeliners? Which shade do you like best?

Pros

  • Vegan
  • Cruelty free
  • Velvety matte formula
  • Good value for the price
  • Good mix of colors
  • Paraben free

Cons

  • A few shades dragged a bit

Kontiki Collection

Both the black and white creme polishes have very good coverage. You could probably get away with 1 coat of each, rather than 2, if you’re better at painting than I am, which I know many of you are :)

I’ve been wearing the Kontiki colors with the Holdfast Base Coat and Liquid Laminate Top Coat for 4 days now with no chipping or tip wear, which is practically a miracle for me. I usually break my nails or chip within 2 days it seems. I even lifted weights yesterday and haven’t broke any. Never fear, I’m sure I’ll somehow manage to chip one on a sliding glass door soon enough.

I’m really impressed with how well Holdfast Base and Liquid Laminate are working for me.

I found all of the Kontiki shades easy to apply. The Kontiki ‘jelly’ polishes seem to have more pigmentation than other jelly nail polishes that I’ve tried in the past and I really like that! All three shades are breathtaking to me. If you loved the looks of Cirque Coronation (purple), but missed out on that one, you will definitely want to check out the Kontiki jellies.

I will say that wearing Dear Dahlia and Thicker Than Water on the same hand feels very much like Christmas in July. My favorite and the one I’m most drawn to is Midsummer Night, though I do love Thicker Than Water too. You know I love my teals and blues.

What do you think of the Cirque Kontiki and Back to Basics Collections? See any shades you love?

Phyrra Says Vol. 17

It’s time I share another Phyrra Says Vol. 17. I talk about the following:

  • Master Bathroom Remodel
  • Weekend Pool Party
  • Missing nail
  • The gym
  • Kat Von D Studded Kiss lipsticks – I swatch and talk about the formula of Wonderchilde, Gothica, Poe, Lullabye, Bauhaus, Lovecraft and Motorhead
  • Future Home Projects

I hope you enjoy hearing me ramble about my life. If you’re interested in the Kat Von D Studded Kiss lipsticks, I talk about each individual shade formula in the latter half of the video.

If you like this video please subscribe and share.

For all of the lipsticks I recommend doing this:

  1. exfoliate your lips
  2. moisturize your lips
  3. blot off excess moisture
  4. use a lip liner  or lip pencil that matches the lipstick to line your lips
  5. apply the lipstick

If necessary, use a lip brush. The mattes really need a lip brush.

Once the formula is on, it will stay on. It’s just a pain to get some of the shades to go on evenly.

I think the glittery formulas do the best and so they’re the ones I feel comfortable recommending – Wonderchilde, Gothica, Poe and Lullabye.

Have you tried the new Kat Von D lipsticks? Do you have any home remodeling in your future?

Top 10 Beauty Time Savers Multi Taskers

Happy Top Ten Tuesday! Today we’re sharing our Top 10 Time Saving Beauty Products. My products are products that I feel multi-task well and save me time when I’m in a hurry. All products are cruelty free and I’ve got several vegan goodies in here too.

1. Cover FX CC Cream Time Release Tinted Treatment SPF 30 (vegan)
While I don’t rely on any makeup for my SPF (I use a moisturizer with SPF for that), I LOVE this product! It has added SPF, which I see as a bonus. It also contains Licorice Root which helps to reduce hyperpigmentation and it’s full of anti-aging ingredients.  It’s a great multi-tasker, plus it’s vegan! This is really a good skin food.

  • complexion correction
  • extra spf
  • anti-aging
  • helps with hyperpigmentation

2. Batiste Dry Shampoo
Dry shampoo in general is great, but I’m picky and only like two brands. Batiste is by far the best, in my opinion.  It gives me volume, soaks up oil, and saves my hair color.

  • Soaks up oil
  • Adds volume

3. NARS the Multiple
NARS Multiple sticks are good for cheeks, lips and eyes. If you use a matte one, you can use it as blush / contour. I don’t like these on my lips, but they work for that in a pinch. I like them best as  blush / contour.

  • blush
  • contour
  • lips
  • eyes

4. Josie Maran Argan Infinity Lip and Cheek Creamy Oil
Thes are long wearing on me for my cheeks, not as long for my lips. They give my cheeks the perfect amount of color and just a hint to my lips. I could use them in a pinch on my lips. Everlasting Honey is my favorite shade.

  • cheeks
  • lips

5. Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics Primer (vegan)
This fabulous lotion is not only a great facial primer and moisturizer, it’s soothing for skin whenever it’s irritated because it contains chamomile. It’s also a good eyeshadow primer, too. It’s the only face primer I’ve felt comfortable using as an eye primer.

  • moisturizer
  • skin soother
  • face primer
  • eye primer

6. DermOrganic Spray Therapy (vegan)
I love this! It’s an argan oil spray. This is basically a nourishing product in my hair. Argan oil can be used all over the face, body, cuticles etc, but I think it’s amazing in my hair.

  • speeds up blow dry time
  • eliminates frizz
  • adds softness
  • enriched with Omega-6, Lipids, Antioxidants, Vitamin E and Natural Moisture Factors (aka good things for your hair to soak up)

7. Waxelene Petroleum Jelly Alternative
This is a new product that I was recently turned on to and I love it! It’s like petroleum jelly except it’s eco friendly, all natural, no GMOs. You can use it to moisturize anywhere. It’s only made from 4 ingredients – soybean oil, beeswax, vitamin E oil and rosemary oil. I don’t like the smell but it fades fast. It smells like rosemary to me.

  • smoothing down unruly eyebrow hair
  • soothing chapped lips
  • rubbing into cuticles
  • moisturizing rough spots on the body
  • moisturizing dry spots on the face
  • for eczema or psoriasis
  • to remove makeup (apparently celebrity makeup artists who work on Halle Berry and Kristen Wiig use it for this purpose)
  • as a base for lipstick
  • to eyelid for dewy look
  • to reduce skin irritation

8. Fake Bake Mistifier
this is a new to me product. Rather than slather on a body lotion and wait for it to soak in, I’ve started using the Fake Bake Mistifier, which sprays on moisture that absorbs quickly and leaves my skin feeling hydrated for a long time.

  • quickly moisturizes
  • long lasting moisture

9. Supergoop!Acaifusion or Mintfusion SPF 30 Lip Balm
I love this stuff! The AcaiFusion is tinted but you can barely see the tint. The Mintfusion is my favorite. It’s got Shea butter so it’s deeply moisturizing for my lips and it has SPF 30. It does double duty as lip balm and sun protectant.

  • lip moisturizer
  • spf protection
  • soothing

10.  Dr. Dennis Gross SkincareAll-in-One cleanser with Toner (vegan)
This cleanser has been recommended to me repeatedly recently but I have not yet tried it. It’s supposed to be perfect for sensitive skin. It cleans a tones, preparing your skin for moisturizer.

  • soothing
  • cleansing
  • toning

Top 10 Time Saving Beauty Products

One bonus time-saving item is the All Natural Face gel eyeliner pot in Peach Ice. It’s an airless pump style packaging. This color is a really nice eye brightener. It can be used as an eye primer and eyeshadow in one. It will really brighten up your eyes, making you look more awake. This is not waterproof but it is smudgeproof. It pretty much stays on unti you wash it off.

Valspar Peacock Blue and Ikea Bathroom

I’m excited to finally be able to share my master bathroom before and after with you. It took longer than I anticipated, mostly due to time constraints with Ray’s schedule. Ray, Dave, Ray’s Mom and I all worked to transform this room. You can see what we did to my living room with Valspar Rushing Stream here.

Two Sinks No Storage

Here is my old bathroom for you. 2 single sinks, one on each wall. No real storage. This drove me crazy! Plus, why would you have a master bathroom without a double master sink? This makes no sense!

Master Bathroom Before and After

Let me describe the ‘before’ to you in a little more detail. The walls were baby poop gold. This was not a happy color to me. The room felt dull and lifeless. There were the 2 single sinks – one on each wall.  You can see the pipes where the sinks used to be in the picture on the left. The final sink was installed on the same wall that the ladder is leaning against.

To start, we removed both sinks. It was very difficult to get the sinks off because of how they were hung on the walls. They had 1 side with a very long molly screw that was nearly impossible to get to because of how it was behind the porcelain. The fact that we were able to remove the old sinks without damaging them was shocking to me.

We taped off everything and painted. I chose Valspar Pantone Peacock Blue, which is a deeper color than Valspar Rushing Stream. You can see the two colors painted side by side in the before picture.

I can’t believe how much brighter and well lit the room looks with the new paint color. It feels like it’s a completely new room.

We had to have a plumber come and cut into the wall on the left and cut off the pipes in the wall and cap them. He also had to finish the double sink for us because Lowe’s could not sell us the right part to connect the bottom of the sink drain to the outage drain in the wall. Lowe’s was so frustrating. Going there twice and being unable to find people who could sell us the right parts, even with pictures and measurements drove me crazy.

We went to ikea to purchase everything else we needed for the remodel.

  • Godmorgon – sink cabinet with 4 drawers (55″, high gloss grey)
  • Godmorgon – 3 legs to put under the sink cabinet
  • Godmorgon – 1 door wall cabinet (grey, 2 of these; the second one isn’t up yet but I think I’ll put it above the toilet)
  • Godmorgon – mirror cabinet with 2 doors (2 of these)
  • Odensvik – double sink (55″)
  • Lundskar – 2 black bath faucet fixtures.

Master Bathroom Before and After

Master Bathroom Before and After

Look at the new double sink and vanity! I love it! The high gloss dark grey looks so amazing with the Peacock Blue paint. I also love how crisp the black sink fixtures look against the white sink and blue wall.

Double SinkThat’s my Sweet Cinnamon Pumpkin soap, along with my super cute little bats, from Bath and Body Works. The sinks have amazingly high pressure, which is a nice change compared to what they used to be.

Blow Dryer Stand

I did end up getting Ray to install the blow dryer stand on the wall. You can also see the Clarisonic Mia that he loves. He uses the Clarisonic Mia while I use the Foreo Luna.

We still need to repaint all of the trim white to freshen it up.

Hair Dye Drawer

The top left drawer under the sink is now home to my hair dye, headbands, hair bows, hair clips and some other random bits and bobs.

Bottom Left Drawer

I actually have no idea what all I will put into my bottom left drawer. Tampons and pads are on the left, along with a backup skincare brush. On the right I have body creme, Bath n Body Works Sweet Cinnamon Pumpkin shower gel, body scrub, a loofah, and mints. The middle section is empty.

Top Right Drawer

The top right drawer has ALL THE BRUSHES and combs, lint brush, flat iron and mirror.

Bottom Right

The bottom right drawer is over half empty. I have my Laila bonnet blow dryer, the cord for the foreo luna and something else (not sure what it is).

Mirror Cabinet

The leftside double mirror cabinet has a ton of skincare and contact stuff. I’ve got 2 big bottles and 2 little bottles of the stuff I use to clean my contacts. I’ve got 4 big bottles and 2 little bottles of the saline solution that I use. I’ve got my makeup remover and cotton pads, anti-aging skincare, SPF products, antiperspirant, toothpaste, lip scrub and dental picks for flossing.

Right Mirror Cabinet

The second double door mirror cabinet doesn’t have too much in it. You can see Ray’s Paula’s Choice for Men, a Josie Maran SPF, Supergoop SPF, Beautisol self-tanner, mouthwash, tiger balm, tooth paste, guy antiperspirant, etc.

Hair Cabinet

The last cabinet is filled with mine and Ray’s hair stuff. It’s less than half full, too.

There are still things that I want to do to the master bathroom, like remove the icky pink flower tile and replace it with something I’d like better. Also, the shower drives me crazy because it has a glass door and a glass window and since we have hard water, they are constantly in need of cleaning. So annoying. Plus, the shower tile is a rosy pink. It’s definitely not the color I would choose.

But, one thing at a time. I think next we’ll be painting the master bedroom.

Have you made any changes to your home lately? What have you done? Or what do you want to do?

I was pleasantly surprised with how nice the softer purple, Pussy Cat, looked in the crease. I need to try a dark eye like this with blue next, as I’ve now received several requests for one. You can check out my Cat Eyes Palette Review.

How was your weekend? Did you have fun? Our friends had a pool party, so we split our time between finishing up the stuff around the house and the party. I ended up losing about 1/3 of the nail on my big toe because one of my friends accidentally stepped on my bare foot. Ouch. I’m not looking forward to waiting for it to grow back.

Cocoa Pink Weekend Sale

Cocoa Pink is having a weekend sale! You can save 15%. I stocked up on a few products. I bought two of the 10 oz of Argan Therapy Creme in Cinderella’s Carriage and Black Chocolate Raspberry. I mix this with my Pravana Vivids hair dye when I do my hair. I also mix in a little with my Pretty Little Elixir Vegan Hair Mask to give it a different scent. I also picked up a large tub of the Voluptuous Body Butter in Cinderella’s Carriage.

Black Chocolate Raspberries – Fresh, juicy raspberries coated in a layer of rich dark chocolate with a hint of seduction.

Cinderella’s Carriage – What did Cinderella really wish for? We think it was this blend of Coconut Cream Pie with Marshmallow Meringue, Sweet Pumpkin, Spiritueuse Double Vanilla, and Vanilla Bean Noel. We think this is the REAL reason the prince fell in love, who could resist Cinderella in sexy foody?

I really love gourmand scents!

Have you tried Cocoa Pink?
