Thursday I felt like a taupe look as I was thinking about PinkSith and JoeyBunny, so I broke out my Shiseido Pink Sands trio and used the ‘platinum’ shade, which I feel looks like a taupe. I was in a bit of a hurry, so this was thrown together in just a few seconds. I used one brush to apply the color to my lid, crease and under the lower lash line (though still on top of TFSI). I used Tarina Tarantino Sparklicity Pure Nude on the browbone and inner corner of the eye. I used a tiny bit of Too Faced Perfect Storm liner on the lower water line and outer upper lash line. Voila! Done!
This look was also from a few days ago. I used Benefit Fancy Pansy on the lid, but if you like this color you could use Evil Shades Suffocation, Urban Decay Asphyxia or Silk Naturals Breathe. For the crease I used Evil Shades Faerie Kisses, but if you don’t have that you could use MAC Sushi Flower. For the definition at the outer corner of the lid and the outer crease I used Fyrinnae Kuroneko. I love this shade and I promise at some point I will have a post devoted entirely to it, because it blends easier than any black I can think of. It’s effortless. For the browbone I used Kiss My Sass Pink Horizons, which I think has a gorgeous subtle pink and gold iridescence to it.
I tried a purple nail gradient, and I think it turned out ok. I love the purple, Kat Von D Wonderchild. I also think Butter London’s Frilly Knickers looks amazing. I even did a little diagram for you to go with it.
I did a green look not too long ago. I wanted to share it with you though I couldn’t really get any great pictures of it. I used Tarina Tarantino Pure Opal on the inner v, Sugarpill Midori on most of the lid and crease, and MAC Jealousy Wakes on the outer corner of the lid and crease.
I decided to do a manicure inspired by our beautiful Phyrra, so I chose a couple of colors that I know she enjoys, aqua and purple. This is my first attempt at a gradation or “syrup” mani, and I’m really happy with how it turned out. The colors I used are Lise Watier “Blue-tiful”, a lovely sparkling aqua, and butterLondon “Stroppy”, a gorgeous grape jelly.
I applied 2 coats of “Blue-tiful” over a base of Orly Bonder. After that dried, I applied “Stroppy” to the very tips of my nails only. Again, after it dried, I applied another coat of Stroppy over about 1/3 of the nail. Another coat followed at slightly more than half the nail, and the final coat of Stroppy over nearly 3/4 of the nail. I finished off with a coat of Seche Vite, which did give me a bit of the dreaded ‘shrinkage’, but it’s not as noticeable in person. This is a lot of coats, so try to use a light hand (I was better at this on my left hand, my right hand is a bit thick). This technique would work using any jelly polish over an opaque shade, another jelly, or even over your bare nail.
I hope you enjoy my Phyrra-inspired mani. I know whenever I look down at my nails, it makes me think of my friend and smile. Thank you Phyrra, for letting me post a little nail fun on your blog!
I was in the mood for a very dark look when I put this on. I’m really in love with MAC Nebula, as you probably have realized since I’ve used it a ton recently. It might just be my favorite pigment that MAC has released since Partylicious. Also, I wanted to let you know, I’ve got a LOT of stuff going on right now, so I will be posting, but possibly not as often until I can get some things settled.
More purple goodness. Sometimes I just can’t help myself. Purple is so gorgeous! Wearing purple and teal tend to make me happy. And who couldn’t use more happy? I know I certainly need more happy! I do have to say, Perpetual Purple (L’Oreal paint pot) is so pretty on its own it really doesn’t need a shadow on top, except, well, I like it. Also, Poison Plum looks fantastic for my brows right now.
I wore this look last week and decided not only do I really really love MAC Nebula, I love Kiss My Sass Diamonds & Pearls. It’s described as a sheer nude creamy off-white with a copper sheen and a few silver flecks. It works really well as an eye brightening lid shade on me, though I think it is great as a brow highlighter too. Never underestimate a good nude shade like this, since it can help you emphasize a more complex crease color, depending on the color placement.
