My Favorite Vegan Cruelty Free Brushes

My Favorite Vegan Cruelty Free Brushes

I wanted to talk about my favorite vegan cruelty free brushes. I get a lot of questions about what are the best brushes, and if I prefer synthetic or natural hair brushes. I personally prefer synthetic brushes now that I’m more educated on the subject.

1. ecoTools

$9.99 for the 6 piece brush set, and there are a variety of sets. This one breaks down to about $1.67 per brush.

I love these brushes for several reasons:
A. They’re easily accessible as they’re sold at several places such as Walgreens, Amazon.com, and Target.
B. They’re very affordable, especially in the sets.
C. They make some great brushes.
D. They’re made from sustainable materials. The handles are made from bamboo and the bristles are synthetic taklon and 100% cruelty free. The Ferrule is made from recycled aluminum.
E. I love the short handles as I feel they give me more control.

Cons:
The only con to these brushes are that they don’t offer all the styles I use and that they don’t offer some of the brushes separately, such as the fiber optic brushes.

Shadow Transformation

Shadow Transformation… the art of foiling, only I prefer to do it without water.  There are a few techniques for how to foil eyeshadow. This comparison of shadow transforming products has been a long time in the making. I’m comparing Fyrinnae‘s Pixie Epoxy (holy grail!), Hi-Fi’s High Impact Shadow Fix, Sobe Botanical’s Stick it and Medusa’s Makeup The Fix. I used 2 pressed shadows and 2 loose shadows for the skin swatches. I used various shadows, both pressed and loose, for the wear testing. This is done in a similar fashion to my eye shadow primer comparison V2.0.

I tried out some Sobe shadows today and I liked them :) In-Peached is a great nearly matte highlighter. Sunbeam is a gorgeous yellow shade. I really liked Orchid and Parfait. I wish Azure had more sparkle, but I think it’s actually a nearly matte shade, too. Jezebel seems to be a great blush shade for my coloring. I like it. I was very happy with my orange lips :)

Tuesday All Grown Up

Tuesday All Grown Up

I had to get up early today to take Dave to have oral surgery done. I wanted to do a ‘grown up’ look, so this is what I put together. I really love UD’s Sellout. I think of that color as an interview shadow color. I think using the plum shade mixed with bronze in my crease gives me a more natural look without being horribly muddy and blah. I’m really starting to love Nyx’s lipliner in Natural. That shade works really well on my lips, especially with a clear gloss. I’d love to hear what you think of this ‘grown up’ look.

Shade Descriptions:
Sellout – pink champagne shimmer
Natural Beauty – fleshy bronzed taupe with hints of honey shimmer
Deep Desire – blackened plum, velvet texture with gentle shimmer
Pulse – sheer pearl white with shy pink shimmer
Inner Glow – fleshy beige with shimmer
Crinoline – MAC Pettiecoat clone, peachy red glow

Eyes:
UDPP Eden
Urban Decay Sellout – all over eye area
bronze – crease
purple – to darken crease and lower lash line
iridescent white – under eyebrows
Maybelline Gel Eyeliner in Eggplant – upper lash line
Covergirl LashBlast Luxe Mascara in Black Platinum
Urban Decay Brow Pencil in Brunette Bombshell

Cheeks:
beige blush
Silk Naturals Glow in Crinoline

Face:
Meow Pampered Puss foundation in Inquisitive Sphynx

Lips:
Aromaleigh Lipbalm in Yuzu
Nyx Lipliner in Natural – lined and filled in
Soap n’ Glory Sexy Motherpucker gloss in Clear

I also purchased Medusa’s Makeup’s new 6 brush set. Their brushes are vegan, with taklon bristles, and the handles are hot pink. I need more hot pink in my life. I also picked up one of their blushes to try, and their glitter fix. The brushes are originally $35 for 6, but I got $10 off, so got them for $25 for 6, which isn’t too bad a deal.
